Welcome from a fellow from-source (Gentoo) user! =:^) Unfortunately I don't have much help for you. As of my sync earlier today, the latest gmime in the Gentoo tree is 2.2.23, which is what I'm running. I checked Gentoo bugs just in case. Nothing on gmime 2.4 there either. It seems you're out in front on this one. (gmime 2.4.0 was released Sept. 26, last Friday.) It's worth noting that Jeff Steadfast, the guy who filed the bug you found and referenced above, is the gmime lead dev. IOW, there should be few issues with that patch being bad, just as he said, incomplete. If he's suggesting moving the one function out of old gmime into pan, that pretty much guarantees there's no good replacement for it in the new gmime. The caveat might be backward compatibility. With gtk+ 2.14, the initial patches developed killed backward compatibility. Dan Rahn (OpenSuse) worked hard at creating a backward compatible solution, with me helping to test it. Eventually he came up with one that worked on SuSE and Gentoo both, we bugged it, and it became part of pan 0.133. Anyway... thanks for the heads-up, as I expect I'll be dealing with the issue soon myself. I work with the Gentoo devs to try to keep pan patched up and working there, having submitted the pan-9999 svn ebuild now in the tree and have relayed/tested various other bugs and patches, so yes, I definitely expect to be dealing with this pretty quickly. I'm CCing myself to the bug above. -- Duncan - List replies preferred. No HTML msgs. "Every nonfree program has a lord, a master -- and if you use the program, he is your master."
