I believe that's what's called a bug. =8^)

I'd suggest filing it as such, as Charles has previously recoded where 
necessary to stay compatible with older GTK versions.  At some point, 
it'll likely be necessary to move on, but meanwhile, he does try to 
support older versions when it's possible, currently back to GTK+ 2.4, 
afaik, as in the specs you mention.
