I second Ducan's view. With sorted by the threads oldest post I can easily look through the header view and look for the thread that "started after that other thread" > I'd find anything else rather seriously frustrating and > unintuitive/illogical. This is basically my point of view as well.. Maybe it is becasue I'm used to the current sorting for years - and not only in newsreaders, but also in my mailreader, in Webfrontends,...
