Need to kill -9 the process to exit. This is quite new in my experience, meaning that crashes happen to me with almost any viewer, but I rarely saw freezes. I'm using official drivers from Nvidia, and I didn't change hardware recently, but I often update my system and sometimes I use experimental software - so this is not a 100% vanilla environment. I'm going to waiting for comments and more testing before filing this one.
