The problem is certainly the "development" model a certain OS/Net version OpenIndiana/Hipster is based on (something like, remove all stuff which somebody who proudly stated that he never runs Illumos on the Desktop *believes* is legacy). We saw many individual cases of broken stuff as a result, from Flash-plugin over Xsun-drivers to Sun-DHCP and hence among other things SRSS. However, if you want I can repeat these tests for you on Hipster x86/x64 (last time I dealt with SRSS was in 2015 on OpenSXCE x86/x64 and sparc). Thanks to the helpful community member who back then guided me through this and offered me not only a donation but also the bins for download :) But for now I forward you to https://openindiana.org/pipermail/openindiana-discuss/2014-July/thread.html#16001 [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Alexander Pyhalov * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Carsten Grzemba * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Jonathan Adams * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Alexander Pyhalov * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Jonathan Adams * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Jonathan Adams * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Carsten Grzemba * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Carsten Grzemba * [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Alexander Pyhalov And as it appears Alexander Pyhalov found a workaround: https://openindiana.org/pipermail/openindiana-discuss/2014-July/016098.html [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI Alexander Pyhalov alp at rsu.ru Tue Jul 15 10:27:06 UTC 2014 * Previous message: [OpenIndiana-discuss] success stories about SRSS and OI * Next message: [OpenIndiana-discuss] gcc runtime * Messages sorted by: [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On 07/04/2014 18:38, Alexander Pyhalov wrote: > Hello. > Does someone have any success stories about running SRSS on OI? > Has someone tried to run SRSS on /hipster ? :) >> (There are chances that I'll have to update my SXCE97 to something more > up-to-date). If someone interested I could successfully run SRSS on /hipster with the following workarounds: 1) removed all references to dhcp configs or dhtadm from SRSS scripts (/opt/SUNWut/lib/dhcp/edhcp/utdhcpservice , /opt/SUNWut/lib/dhcp/edhcp/utdhcpopt , /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utadm, /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utfwadm ) We use ISC DHCP for Sun Ray networks. 2) created /etc/hostname.bnx0 file with my hostname (however, ipadm is used to configure network interfaces) 3) utpolicy -a -D -z both (perhaps, unnecessary, but we anyway use it ) 4) utcrypto -a auth_up_type=none (without this got 44D) 5) Added X11 font paths to /etc/opt/SUNWut/X11/fontpath (earlier, IIRC SRSS read /etc/X11/XF86Config) 6) Added to /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias fixed "-misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-120-75-75-c-60-iso10646-1" -- Best regards, Alexander Pyhalov, system administrator of Computer Center of Southern Federal University ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Пятница, 23 сентября 2016, 6:15 UTC от Carsten Grzemba <[email protected]>: > >can you say what the problem with srss on hipster is?
