Following update of an hipster install running as Vbox guest on an OI (151_9) installation, rebooted to new BE following upgarde, But it does not bring up X as in the past, so logging into my user at console and attempting to startx from there I get this error:
,---- | xauth: creating new authority file /home/harry/.serverauth.1470 | | | Fatal server error: | Cannot move old log file "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" to "/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old" | | | Please consult the Project OpenIndiana support | at http://openindiana.org | for help. `---- I haven't started X in that way on hipster before but far as I know a user should be able to start X... is that correct? I haven't seen a message similar to this one on the group so guessing this is an unusual outcome following an update. The error (EE) lines from /var/log/Xorg.0.log ,---- | (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown. | [131626.915] (II) Loading extension MIT-SCREEN-SAVER | [131626.918] (EE) Failed to load module "xtrap" (module does not exist, 0) | [131626.920] (EE) Failed to load module "glcore" (module does not exist, 0) | [131626.925] (EE) Failed to load module "xtsol" (module does not exist, 0) | [131626.945] (EE) module ABI major version (6) doesn't match the server's version (12) | [131626.946] (EE) Failed to load module "vboxvideo" (module requirement mismatch, 0) | [131626.946] (EE) No drivers available. `---- I don't know enough about this to tell what those errors mean, but it looks like some aspect of vbox is involved. However the line right before the failure to load `vboxvideo', where module ABI shows a version mismatch...seems like it might be important. I haven't upgraded Vbox to the newest version so still running 4.3.20. Can anyone offer some ideas about what is happening here? _______________________________________________ openindiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
