Since you are getting this error, I suspect your compiler is not properly
installed..
Try the following
$ gcc -v
$ gcc -o xx xx.c
where xx.c is the following simple file
#include <stdio.h>
int main() { printf("Hello World!\n"); }
and tell what you get.
