I believe that ATA is what you want. I never heard of IRRT before. It would appear to be rather Windows specific. I Don't think that selecting ATA will adversely affect Windows, but some registry fiddle might be needed. I'm quite certain that there's a setting that will accommodate both, but I'm utterly incompetent in Windows world, so I can't say how to do it.
FWIW I bought an HP Z400 which came w/ Windows 7 installed. Worked great w/ Windows, but could not even see the disks when I booted S10/OI until I changed the BIOS setting for the disks. --- On Sat, 4/2/11, Andrew Myers <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Andrew Myers <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] Installing on USB stick > To: [email protected] > Date: Saturday, April 2, 2011, 9:12 PM > My BIOS settings have the following: > > - System Configuration > |- SATA Operation > * Disabled > * ATA > * AHCI > * IRRT > > Is disabled what I should choose? > > I have Windows 7 on this machine and would prefer to dual > boot (yeah > yeah, don't hate me - I require it for work still). > Any ideas if > changing that setting will screw up the OS I already have > installed? > > Thanks, > Andrew. > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > Message: 1 > > Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2011 12:27:03 -0700 (PDT) > > From: Reginald Beardsley <[email protected]> > > To: Discussion list for OpenIndiana > > <[email protected]> > > Subject: Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] Installing on USB > stick > > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 > > > > Look at the BIOS settings for the disk.
