Null/empty labels check — if labels is null or empty, skip the label iteration with continue instead of throwing NullPointerException. 2. Missing service check — before calling .getMetadata().getAnnotations(), check if serviceLister.namespace(namespace).get(...) returned null (service not yet in cache).
