If you have SMTP access to your mail, you can use isync/mbsync on a *nix box to get an archive.
Configuration is pretty easy, but here's my config for reference: https://git.beepboop.systems/stupidcomputer/dot_testing/src/branch/master/config/isync/config Your emails are saved as plain text, so you can grep to your heart's content. If you want more advanced searching you can use notmuch -- but I haven't tried configuring it.
