I had a reminder today of why I have to keep Windows, as well as Linux,
on my computer. I have a Samsung SCX-3405W laser printer, which connects
to my home network via WiFi. However, to change its WiFi settings, which
I had to do today, I have to boot into Windows, as Samsung supplies a
configuration program for It for Windows and MacOS, but not one for
Linux. The Linux driver can print to and scan from the device, but not
change its configuration.

Never mind Windows! There are some devices, RAID cards and the like, that one must run some variant of DOS to update firmware. After much agony and gnashing of teeth, I have a multiboot drive configured with Ubuntu 10.4 and FreeDOS for just such an emergency.
