Hi! > > I am trying to build up a gigabit network with the following equipment > > (all from Netgear): > > Same config here.
So if you are using exactly the same equipment, I think that only two points can cause the problem: 1. One or more devices I am using are not working correctly. What I am going to do about this is to get the equipment back to the store to get all three things replaced. 2. Cables not fitting the requirements. I am using CAT 5e actually, but it may be that this is a part of the problem. Can you say something about this point? What I can actually do is answer a few of the questions you sent me: > - Which kernel are you using ? 2.6.11.4-21.8-default > - If it still sucks, can you try 2.6.13-rc6 ? Is there any known problem related to the driver with the kernel I am using? Just to make sure that to drive to the shop and get the devices replaced is worth it. > - Please send: > o complete dmesg after boot Linux version 2.6.11.4-21.8-default ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)) #1 Tue Jul 19 12:42:37 UTC 2005 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000e0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000003ffd0000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000003ffd0000 - 000000003ffdf000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000003ffdf000 - 0000000040000000 (ACPI NVS) 127MB HIGHMEM available. 896MB LOWMEM available. When I do the same under Win XP (switching from Autosensing to 1000MBit), it´s still the same - and that´s why I guess it´s a problem of the hardware or the cables.
