Have you installed the MIB files?
How did you install the Net-SNMP library?

That's one approach, certainly.
If you don't try to load the MIBs, then the library won't
complain if it can't find them.

If you are writing your own application, then you could
hardcode the setting of this environmental variable within the code.
Something like

     setenv( "MIBS", "", 1)

before initialising the library.
Though of course, this will prevent anyone being able to
specify MIB files to load if they need this.

The particular issue with failing to load MIB files that is fixed in 5.7.1
*only* affects 5.7.   It's simply not relevant to the 5.5.x line.
   If you are seeing this warning with 5.5, it typically means that
the MIB files weren't installed properly.
