Its an idea. I still think we should auto-detect if its not there though.

and right now we handle poorly the fact that the default config entry

should we encourage users to export a MONO_<VERSION NUMBER>_BASEPATH environment variable, and use this in the configuration section (for the linux platform that is) ?
