-- MLUG Meeting - Saturday 18th December 2010 Meeting started at 10:00 Chairman Daniel welcomed all present. Keith’s MAC OS X crashed. All waited for the machine to reboot. Libre Office study to be carried out, comparing features to Microsoft Office. Keith to send the required features. A discussion was held on the distribution of Ubuntu Linux and other open source software at a government level. The discussion was mostly related to the distribution of software within schools. The machine has been installed with Debian Linux and a second network card has been added. We are still pending a reply from University regarding installing the machine at their premises. Keith is to contact the university regarding the status of this project. A discussion was held regarding the devices which will support an IPv6 network at user homes. Raphael will investigate which low-cost routers provided by local suppliers will be able to support this. IPv6 will be promoted to the public only when a) the IPv6 computer is running and b) the research is complete and suitable devices have been found. Meeting closed at 11:40
