The problem is that dell get a lot of money from Intel and Microsoft - so anything that "rocks the boat" affects their bottom line.. I think they recently reported they made more money from Intel subsidising the machines than they did on the sale of the machines in return for an exclusive "intel only" policy... That meant they lost a bucket load of cash when they moved to Intel & AMD..
