Agreed. > 2. you need to specify how members are nominated for election. In the proposed statute I said that any member who's been there for at least 1 month can stand for election (no mention of a nomination). I think that a nomination and seconding is overly formal and unnecessary. After all it's the members who will decide with their vote who gets elected. If a candidate can get enough votes to get elected they'd probably be able to find someone to nominate them anyway. At most maybe we should specify that prospective candidates should inform the list of their intentions a number of days before the AGM/EGM, but in that case we should also allow for people to volunteer on the spot if there aren't enough candidates. > Also, there could be a problem with membership in the mailing list being > equivalent to membership in the MLUG if some one registers with more > than one e-mail. Well, since voting requires a person to be physically present I don't think that will cause too many problems. You can register with 10 emails, but ultimately there will only be one of you present to cast a vote. I myself registered both my home address and my work address in the list purely as a matter of convenience. The only concern is if this list is used to calculate a quorum. We could discuss this in the meeting. -- Ramon Casha <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
