Hi list, Thanks for your replies. After further reading about Fedora, I've discovered that it will be updated very frequently - something like a new version every three months. It will contain the latest (bleeding edge) packages. That's good news for my desktop installation - I always want the latest. It's bad news, however, for my mini-server. Since Fedora will be updated frequently with the latest packages, it's bound to be unstable. I would also have to install a new version every 3 months - not something nice on a server.
I'll probably switch my "server" to Mandrake now. I've heard many people say that Red Hat is the best when it comes to servers and Mandrake has some shortcomings. Is this true, or will Mandrake do the job well? (I can't use other distros since I need an E.A.S.Y one hehe.) RadHat 10? What's going on... It seems that RedHat is aiming itself exclusively at the server market. It's already made many users feel rather disgruntled at the decision. What used to be the free RedHat Linux is now Fedora. On Sib, 2003-11-15 at 17:21, Keith Vassallo wrote: Hi list, I recently went to download the new RedHat Linux - and I'm quite confused. There now seem to be three Linux's one can have? One of them is of course RedHat Enterprise Linux. Then there's RedHat Linux and now there's something called Fedora (http://fedora.redhat.com) Could someone please explain what they are trying to do with fedora? Does this mean that, instead of waiting for RedHat Linux 10, I now have to download Fedora Core 1? Or is Fedora a completely different thing? This is confusing, please enlighten me...
