I found this very interesting and comprehensive article about the 2.6 version of the Linux kernel. For those who haven't noticed it yet, there's a "test" version of kernel 2.6 that comes with Mandrake 9.2, in the contribs website. Other distros probably also have their own pre-release versions of 2.6 for people to play around with.
