Hello, There are many reasons why someone might actually look at replacing such a setup, I would vote in favor of : unmanageable and support is out anyway, so let's move it to something we know. Now, the "we" here is quite important depending on the time you plan on staying in the place since your successor might have cisco skills and not OpenBSD ones. I was in a similar situation a few years back and when we decided to go down the 10gig connectivity, cisco was unfortunately an obvious choice. That said, we are running OpenBSD bridging firewalls on parts of the network (where connectivity is down to gigE). Note that I am not starting a troll, just stating what might have come to the mind of the man who sent the first email.
