kde: kio accessing files in /etc

After running kde on 3.9 I found the following error messages in the kde error 
log:

kio (KDirWatch): WARNING: KDirWatch::removeDir can't handle 
'/etc/samba/smb.conf'
kio (KDirWatch): WARNING: KDirWatch::removeDir can't handle 
'/etc/security/fileshare.conf'
kio (KDirWatch): WARNING: KDirWatch::removeDir can't handle '/etc/exports'

Why would kio access files in /etc?
