I mostly wouldn't recommend that any more now we have Das U-Boot
working on rpi.

IIRC it was quite sensitive to rpi-firmware version, and OpenBSD was
quite sensitive to the version of the firmware.

If rpi-firmware isn't already up-to-date I'd try that first, with the
bootloader from the install image or miniroot.

I'd also try a recent snapshot (install79.img or miniroot79.img) as
well if you only tried 7.8.
