OpenBSD Team,

I have been trying to install OpenBSD on an older PII 400 pc with an
Abit BE6 (440 BX chipset) motherboard. In the process, I have verified
with memtest86 that I have 128 Mb of good RAM (one stick), updated the
BIOS to the latest version, andverified that OpenBSD 3.7, 3.8 and 3.9
will not install. This is my first attempt at
installing an Unix/Linux OS, so I am not really suited to
troubleshooting. I have also tried FreeBSD and SUSE Linux with same
results.

I petitioned the comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.misc newsgroup. Several thoughts
we posed there that have not helped. The last thought was to ask via
this email. I have a verbose install log if that would help. I am
including snippets from a regular log and a verbose log.

I have a Plextor CD-RW drive, a Maxtor 20Gb HDD, a single floppy drive,
a Creative Soundblaster LIVE!, a Voodoo3 2000 video card, and a Network
Everywhere (NC100) ethernet card. I have tried ACPI on/off and PNP off.
I have tried numerous different floppies, several different CD and the
network install.

The fact that Win98 installs easily and is very happy probably means
little in diagnosing the problem, thank you again MS.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I firmly believe in teaching a hungry man to fish vice giving him fish.
But sometimes you do need to supply the man with the gear to go fish.
Any more data you might need, please advise.

Again, thanks for any thoughts/help.

Regards,

JM
