I'm not saying you didn't have problems, I am saying they had nothing
to do with running GENERIC and were likely PEBKAC.  It sounds like you
didn't bother to enable tty00 in /etc/ttys and then decided to blame
that on your kernel for some reason.

Soekris machines work fine, and a default openbsd installation works
fine on them.  If you have a problem, ask what you are doing wrong,
don't mess up a perfectly good OS installation.

Clearly if you are having problems, you are not in a position where you
should be running a bastardized and unsupported installation.  And you
certainly shouldn't be complaining about people not telling you how to
run a default install, its very well documented.
