Nothing wrong with compiling package from ports, not all FLAVORs of ports are available via packages, plus there are license issues with other ports. I think one of the best things a new user of OpenBSD is to use and understand the port/package system. Otherwise we end up with whiner's saying "This Package or That Package Isn't Available".
