Fabulous.
Kai: nicely done...thanks for avoiding terseness and providing enough
verbiage to help set expectations and tone.
Feedback in no particular priority:
1) Immediately begin placing the builds in an "Official Builds" dir that is
a sibling to the current "Personal Builds" dir.
2) Maintain the mingw-builds build scripts in a public git repo similar to
Reuben (does not have to be on GH). Perhaps this is already done today and
I've been too lazy to find anything but the `mingw-builds-3.0.0.zip`
download.
3) An installer is fantastic, but please continue to ensure the components
are usable and downloadable without the installer. This is important for
those of us who stitch together custom toolchains by scripting the
download/extraction of your base (binary) components.
4) Start a separate thread that lists specific areas (small and large)
where you guys could use community help in building and maintaining the
official mingw-w64 builds.
Will official mingw-w64 builds be available only for 4.8.1+, or will a
limited number of earlier versions also be supported? For me, I currently
only care about 4.7.x and 4.8.1+
In addition to Alexey and niXman, a big "Thank You" to all mingw-w64
contributors who make this effort of providing usable binary toolchains
possible.
