An application can already add multiple .desktop files with specific
attributes and can make use of different alternative entry points into the
application.
Your use case implies context sensitivity which is currently entirely
feasible both in Maemo and Meego and even Windows and most Linux desktops.

If the developer adds an entry point into his application (command
parameters, or DBUS message etc) it will be openable in the method required.

ie, I believe this proposal is a no-op
