A similar question would be "what's the difference between linux and minix" (when linux was starting), and I'm sure people would have found it on-topic of linux and replied. Anyway, you go ask your question to LKML, my guess is that it will be ignored, because everybody is familiar with linux, and nobody cares about solaris. If that's not the case, then a few people might answer, and the rest will ignore the thread. But there's really no point in speculating. The fact of the matter is that people on *this* mailing list found the question worth sharing and answering.
