I'm pretty sure he meant the xf86-video-nv. xf86-video-nouveau is a different driver.
For meego on ION you'll have two problems. The first is that you will need an nvidia driver to get X or even the installer to start. The second is that ethernet will only work if you add the 'forcedeth' module in the kernel. See the work I did to get moblin on the ION here : http://www.madeo.co.uk/?p=139 It obviously will need to be reworked but the basics should be there.
