OK, here is my prediction. Let's say that MD does go away inside the US.
there is still a huge asian market that can not be denied and so if us
models go away you will still be able to get units. Places like minidisco
will still be around. but here is my actual prediction. with target
getting md in stock. best buy around here anyway having the largest
selection of MD i've ever seen them have. Circuit City (even though i hate
em still for DIVX) still caries at least 3 portable units (around here
again) at least 1 car unit and a couple home units. and both the places
carry blanks out the wazoo. you aren't going to see MD disappear tomarrow.
anyway from recent experience with friends that i've not talked into buying
MD over an mp3, all have found MD on thier own because they refuse to dump
the cash out for the ram.

as for recording, people who really bootleg concerts wont use an MP3 based
recorder (i think there is only 1 out right now) they will continue to use
DAT and MD.

well that's my .02 cents :)
