Hook as cited by Michael P. confirms that his dinner with Brecht was in 1935.
Scare quotes ("Trotskyite-Zinovievite Terrorist Center," "terrorist centre") by
Gandall signal his belief today. It has no bearing on Brecht's intent in his
1935 poem.
Brecht chose the socialist DDR when he had a choice (well aware that it was not
perfect socialism). The Trotsky---s attempts to claim him for their
anti-communism are ludicrous.
