On the other hand, the question is how [email protected] can end up in a ticketing system in the first place, as it would require some sort of confirmation to join the mailing list. Thus it must have been some weirdo employee that have clicked the confirmation link, or the ticketing system have auto-clicked it for some reason (security scanner link scanner or similiar).
Because if [email protected] never sends a email to a ticketing system, theres nothing to "auto-reply" on. And even if someone would enter "[email protected]" in a ticketing system "new user", the ticketing system would try to send the confirmation to [email protected], and get rejected for no posting privilieges. So then it must be the opposite - someone entered the ticket system address into the form on the mailop list page, and then logged on as employee on the ticket system and confirmed with the confirmation link on "their own" support ticket (created by [email protected] ). Thats propably why its rare for ticket system to even check List-id: Theres no reason for a list to end up in a ticket system. Google groups is worse since they allow you to join with no double-opt-in provided you are logged in with the email account in question (because the account is then previously double-opt-in-ed) Thats propably why the ticket system problem is worse over there. May I also ask everyone to check if their ticket systems do NOT auto-reply to e-mails with "List-Id:" header? The amount of Spam from Google Groups, followed by multiple ticketing systems also replying to the Google Group itself is quite annoying.
