A month or two ago, Vadim and I had a series of Emails on the future of Mahogany from our personal views for a medium to long term basis. We came to the decision that out there in business-land, more and more companies are going to Groupware solutions either the Proprietary MS Exchange etc route or the Open Source Chandler, Open Office, Glow etc route. Either way, we thought it a good thing to make sure that as the OS products matured, M could fit in as part of the client end of the solution. In the past, M has had bits of code which if dusted off, could be revived into part of this strategy e.g. Calendaring, Palm support, Python integration, VCard support etc. Now you know why I have been championing certain ideas lately. This also works well with what Vadim has been talking about with allowing the new Config data to be stored in external places like LDAP, IMAP etc. As part of this strategy, and because nobody in this group would suggest we have a surfeit of programmers, I have been appointed by Vadim as the group's "Diplomat" in charge of trying to drum up more developer resources and also keeping an eye on what technologies the OS groupware types are keen on. I already have in principle support from the group leader over at groupware.openoffice.org to place some solicitations for programmers and am working on how best to word that. I have also joined over at the wxPython users list and will be seeing what I can do there once we can at least say that Python will compile under M again. I am a long time identity over at NEWS.GRC.COM and am doing a bit of work there with some very sophisticated users and also with some people who are also at the opposite end if the spectrum computing wise raising the M profile. All of which goes to explain why, when I include a bit of Physics study I haven't yet completed with my Bugs du Somaine project yet :-) LOL I expect to do more of that after my midsemester exam next Monday. I've also got to arrange access to the real CVS. This 24-48 hour delay with the crappy SF anon-CVS is driving me nuts. What do I need to do Vadim?
