AFAIK, application manager won't resolve dependencies if the package
is not being installed from a repository. So the solution is to upload
your packages to a repository and install from there.
(garage.maemo.org provides such a repository)

I'm having the same problem with maemo-stars and libglade2, this package is
on the maemo repository, and is correctly installable via xterm apt-get but
it fails through the application manager.

 I'm not sure, but I thinks this happens because libglade comes from a
repository not "trusted" and hence requires manual confirmation on install
(press Y from the command line and default to N).

 Maybe is the same case for you.
