Hey Brian!
Seeing as you system used to work earlier in time, I'm sure you'll hate me
for telling you this.
1. Back up any data you need.
2. Repartition your physical drive into two logical drives (extended)
3. Install OSX onto partition No.1(closest to the spindle
4. Install OS9 onto parition No.2
5. Enjoy!
***There is, somewhere on the iNet, a utility that displays an OS choice
dialog(for Macs) upon startup. I just can't remember what it's called...try
M.I.T.'s info-Mac server.
***resetting the PRAM is straight forward, BUT there are some requirements.
-If you take the battery out, the power cord must be disconnected from the
unit and the battery must be left out of the unit for at least an hour(for
complete loss of PRAM data).
- If you choose the "keystroke" method, upon startup, hold down the
"comand"+"option"+"p"+"r" keys. You must hold these keys down until you have
heard no less than five "bongs" (also for complete "zapping" of PRAM data.
After the fifth bong, let the mac continue to boot.
It has always worked for me.
Cheers,
David

The problem is, I did that. It booted fine into X the first time then I
chose 9.2 and it came up with the floppy symbol. Reloaded X, reinstalled
it, then chose 9.2 and the same thing happened.
Rebuilding pram won't work, it just keeps rebooting. I took the pram
battery out, hoping that this would reset the cmos and it would boot
into the default os which I hope is X. Anyone know if there is a jumper
to reset the cmos or does taking the battery out do the job.
Very strange activity for something that has been rock steady since I
got it last year.
