I've read the Jagshouse FAQ on dual booting Macs, but I didn't see it mentioned whether or not it'd work if you installed an older system on a newer one, in this case the machine, a Performa 6214, is currently running 9.0.4, and I'd like to try 7.5.5 on it to speed it up a bit as I got an install disc at a garage sale... Is it just the same process, renaming the old System folder and moving the old Finder, or will it not work?

And if you're hiding the finder, does the machine just instantly crash and let you boot up from the installer, or can you shut it down more or less normally?
