Fires throughout BC have damaged several communications backbones providing links back to the Internet.� Primary circuits were first affected around 3:00am on Saturday, August 2.� Backup services were restored by 10:00am Saturday, until 5:30pm Saturday, when fires destroyed the backup services as well.� Fires, and the BC Ministry of Forests restriced access to repair crews until Sunday, August 3 at 6:00 am.� Repair crews are currently on site replacing cables and equipment, but due to the extent of the damage repairs are expected to take quite some time.� At this point, the estimated time for services to be restored is not until late Sunday evening.� We will� post updates on the cablelan Web site (www.cablelan.net) to keep you informed of progress.
