I'd disagree. I find that 8.6 is the most appropriate OS (in terms of speed)
for anything less than a G3. I have 9.1 installed on a Perform 6500/275, and
I can barely stand to use that machine. Thank goodness it's just a storage
spot for MP3s. :-)

But, YMMV -- I think that the definitive answer also lies with how much OS
crap you install with 9.x. As to RAM for 9.x, 120MB of RAM is a decent
amount. I'd suggest trying 9.x, and see what you think. It's a much superior
OS, without question, to 8.6, if your HW supports it. If you don't like the
performance, drop back to 8.6 -- that's the best way to tell. :-)
