Thanks for the workaround:
lynx -useragent='Lynx/2.9.2 AppleWebKit/528.18' google.com
It opens the usual search mask but after submitting a search request
I'm getting a help service side providing info how to configure
some mainstream browsers.
Any ideas?
Best, Klaus

Yes, that happened to me today as well (not sure what time it stopped,
but it worked in the morning UK time and did not work in the afternoon).
Google apparently hates browsers that can't view their JavaScript AI
garbage.
For now, I've discovered that this works, but it's only a matter of time
before they remove that loophole as well:
lynx -useragent='Lynx/2.9.2 AppleWebKit/528.18' google.com
I'll eventually be forced to switch to DuckDuckGo, but it just isn't as
good at returning relevant results.
