Rakarrack is a highly configurable effects rack - a all-in-one guitar
effects processor (the best I've seen in the GNU world).

It's not a synthesizer like ZynAddSubFX (it doesn't generate sound on it's
own, but processes input), however it uses some of Zyn's effects like
reverb, distortion, delay.
I think we could make great use of it in conjunction with audio recording
to audio tracks - users would be able to get great sounding guitars
recorded from the line very easily.
Rakarrack is very good at delivering lovely distorted guitars, sounding
really good. I never was able to get such good sound using a stack of
LADSPAs in Ardour - one Rakarack preset sounded much more believable and
full. I don't know how it make the distortion sound so analog-like, round
and natural - using C*Tube effects or TAP Warmth, Calf Saturator... nothing
gave mu such results as Rakarrack.

It would be really cool to have Rakkarack applicable as an effect in the
mixer. However I have no idea how to do it. Plus running a few of
Rakarracks could be CPU-heavy.
