I should also note that all required changes are in the kernel, but not in firmware. I have used a WIP firmware patch that the kernel contributor also used, to develop this. So there is a tiny chance that there would be changes later when official firmware support is done, but given that it's a single register with relatively limited impact, I doubt it.
