I just downloaded live555 and compiled it on my mandriva 2008 machine. I was able to compile it with out any problem. When I run openRTSP to stream from a darwin server, I could not play the video-MP4-ES-1 file.
This is a MPEG-4 Video Elementary Stream file. Few, if any, media players are able to play such a file, unfortunately.
However, you can use VLC or QuickTime Player to play the stream directly - using the "rtsp://" URL.
