I did something for this back then (which requires some porting to modern 
Lilypond), but I failed to get even spacing independent of rhythm. Sadly 
spacing is quite complicated in Lilypond.

Also that stuff was written for lilypond 2.22. Since then some things have 
changed, which I could more or less easily adapt until a mid 2.23 version, but 
then the interface for chord names was changed, which requires me rework a 
bigger section of the code. Which I could probably tackle at some point, but it 
is sadly not just a matter of adapting a few things.
