It looks pretty good, but personally i've moved away from one client for
one service..

everyone i know mostly uses msn or icq (some yahoo and aim), and im sick
of running 4 clients that all do the same thing... Jabber was a failure
because of all the server side stuff that had to go on, and in the end
Kopete is the only client for me (Since 0.5). It handles all the popular
IM services through plugins to the program (even irc!) and manages all
contacts in an intelligent common manner. And damn, it even looks good!

I had been using licq since the beginning and was hoping that it would
evolve.. but now there are so many other clients out there that do the
same and more.. its almost a shame that people are wasting effort on 10
separate IM projects, and almost none of them doing it well..

I guess thats the 'ole *nix syndrome.. everyone is free to re-invent the
wheel if they want, and more often than not they do.. i cant blame em, we
all work on code because we enjoy coding, but how many times do you have
to write an icq library when one is and has been available for a long
time? In licq's case there is a valid reason for continuing development
and that is i've noticed many people like to use the console gui plugins
and such that one cant get from other clients... other than that, its a
wasteful duplicated effort that could be better spent improving one of the
many other programs that need help in KDE/GNOME.. or are we not out to rid
microsoft's strangle hold on the world?

just my $0.02CDN
