It shows more styles, it has a drop down box which can list much more styles than the small space currently allocted in LO. You have the space, why not use it. Sorry for mixing fonts into this as well, but the harm is already done so continuing that discussion. If dynamic preview is not used, one will have to scroll down and choose a font. If one does not like the font, one has to scroll down again and try another. Not happy? scroll again until you finally found a font you like.
