Personally I think the action of opening a table as read-only if it doesn't have a primary key is a little rude.
Whilst it is certainly a relational database principle that every (every every every) table should have a primary key, it is not a rule. It is easy to accurately update a table that doesn't have a primary key. I think this is nannying the user in an intrusive way.
