Start Base Database → Database Wizard appears.
Connect to an existing Database → MySQL/MariaDB → Next.
The attached screenshot shows what happens:
3 possibilities to connect, but description will only differ between ODBC and
JDBC. Since LO 6.2 MariaDB direct connection has been added. Should be noticed
in the description.
Also direct connections are constructed for better results and easier
connection between the database and Base. So "Connect directly" should be the
default value, not "Connect using JDBC". JDBC will need an external driver and
Java running.
Note: Try the same for PostgreSQL. Only the direct connection will be available
when trying to connect to PostgreSQL, because this is the preferred driver.
