You modify the expected return value of a test for pkg-config and in doing so, I think you may be invalidating the test.
I have not yet had the time to dig deeper into it, so it's possible I'm missing something, however, the script's comments say it's testing for a broken popt lib. I use a system-installed version of popt in LightCube and when I compile pkg-config linked to that popt, all tests pass without modification.
