Sorry using a space instead of comma (or period) is actually a valid number
format.
Just checked - - - it is possible to specify a space for thousands
separator in
LibreOffice.

I have seen it used in some reports that I have run into over the years and
find that
as a separator it very much enhances readability. That's why I like to use
it (and why
I'm asking about it.
