Not a problem. There are lots of kinds of apps, and there are always
those of us new to some.

Okay.

I'm running Ruby 1.8.6 (2010-08-16 patchlevel 302) [x86_64-linux], it
claims. Any reason you know of that would make a problem?

I'm already guessing that 2.6.2 config may be a problem. How hard is it
to upgrade to 3.0? (configure, make, make install? I guess I should
read the manual :-) ). I presume 3.0 will read 2.6 ledger files just fine?

Makes sense.

Aha! I created the database as postgres; it's been a long time since I
remember using that DBMS. I'll delete it and try again.

I'll try all this and report back (perhaps not today).

That's a shame. ledger is great for its light weight and flexible
charts of accounts, but I still find the reporting a bit obscure. This
seems to be a great enhancement.

Thanks for the quick answers, Pete.
